When You Dare The Storm, You Get Results. Prof. Akinwumi, A Perfect Example

Despite the obvious challenges of water, access road, hostel accommodation, among others, the Vice Chancellor, Federal University Lokoja, Professor Olayemi Akinwunmi, stood his ground that students of the Institution be moved to the Permanent site of the University in Felele, Lokoja.

Late last year (2021), the selected Departments left the Adankolo Campus of the University to the Permanent site with academic activities taking place as expected.

Today, the Permanent site of the Institution is taking great shape as some of the obvious challenges that was supposed to serve as a setback is being handled one after the other.

Following the resilience of the incumbent Vice Chancellor of the University and the Management Team to seeing to the development of the Institution, spirited individuals are beginning to partner with the University to ensure its growth.

To this end, on Monday, 21st February 2022, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja, Prof. Olayemi Akinwunmi, received two 18 seater buses and a fire tender donated by spirited individual.

The vehicles are to assist management in the movement of staff, students and to fight fire emergencies.

Prof. Akinwunmi, described the gesture of the donor as a morale boost, explaining that such was a pointer that the Institution is on the right pedestal to greatness.

The VC said the vehicles will go a long way at contributing to the speedy realization of the vision of the University, stressing that the Vehicles will be used for the purpose intended.

He explained that the task of making FUL a world class institution requires the collaboration of all, calling on other well-to-do individuals within and outside the State to emulate the gesture of the donor and contribute their quota to the progress of Education in the Country.

In a remark, the Registrar of the University, Mrs. Rebecca Aimiohu Okojie, described the donated buses and fire fighting machine as sign of greater things to come through partnership.

While commending the leadership style of the incumbent VC of the Institution, Mrs. Okojie described Prof. Akinwunmi’s efforts thus far as unprecedented, urging him to sustain the innovative and result oriented processes.

Similarly, the Transport Officer, Federal University Lokoja, Mallam Umar Ibrahim, said the donation of the buses and fire fighting machine was the first of its kind since the establishment of the Transport Unit of the Institution in October 2011.

Mallam Ibrahim attributed the successes recorded in the Unit so far to the leadership of Prof. Akinwunmi, pointing out that it will help ease the movement of staff and students of the prestigious citadel of learning.

Highlights of the ceremony was the official cutting of tape and test running of the vehicles by the FUL Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olayemi Akinwunmi.

The current speed of all round development taking place at the permanent site of the Institution, if sustained, no doubt the University will continue to stand out among her peers.
