Stakeholders Discuss Way Forward on Conversion of FMC Lokoja to FUL Teaching Hospital
Management of the Federal University Lokoja has held a meeting with the Federal Ministry of Health and the Federal Medical Centre Lokoja on the plans to convert the Federal Medical Centre FMC Lokoja to FUL Teaching Hospital.
The meeting was held at the Office of the Director, Department of Hospital Services Federal Ministry of Health Abuja.
The meeting which revolved around the Memorandum of Understanding between FMC Lokoja and the Federal University Lokoja, had parties involved agreeing to the conversion of FMC Lokoja to FUL Teaching Hospital while working in synergy to ensure that the institution’s College of Health Sciences comes to reality.
A delegation from the Federal Ministry of Health was constituted at the meeting to visit the facilities at both institutions to ascertain level of readiness for the new development.
The delegation is expected to file the report of their findings that will be forwarded to President Muhammed Buhari on a later date for approval.
The Chief Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre Lokoja – Doctor Olatunde Alabi led his team from the health institution to the meeting in Abuja.
The team from the Federal University Lokoja was led by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwunmi and was accompanied by the representative of the University’s Governing Council- Honourable Sani Anka, Provost- FUL College of Health Sciences – Professor Ozovehe Mike Ogirima.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) – Professor M.S Audu, Deputy VC (Administration), Professor A.E Bala, Registrar of the institution- Mrs. Rebecca Okojie, amongst others, were present at the meeting.
