IWD: “As Women, We Are Committed To Playing Our Parts Towards Attaining A Sustainable Country” – Mrs. Obadoba
Kogi State Chairperson, Association of Women Town Planner of Nigeria, Mrs. Joy Oyiza Obadoba, says women are committed to playing their roles towards ensuring a sustainable Country – Nigeria.
Mrs. Obadoba stated this in an interview with Newsmen while reacting to this year’s International Women’s Day.
She described women as strong pillars in Nation building, urging them to stay strong and responsive at all times.
Mrs. Obadoba, who is also a Lecturer at the Federal Polytechnic, Idah said over the years, women have been committed to the development of the society and should be supported for the rapid transformation of the society.
She noted that the Association advocates gender equality and training of women in planning in terms of professionalism in all activities being carried out in the society.
“When you look at our society and part of Africa society where we belong, we understand that women have key role to play in nation building and we are committed to see that women play their part to ensure that Nigeria becomes a sustainable Country” she said.
Mrs. Obadoba noted that the Association under her watch has recorded numerous achievements and promised to continue to do more, stressing that her legacies in academic world are also topnotch through girl-child education advocacy.
She appreciated Mrs Ayesha Noor, the Research Assistant, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Bangladesh; The town planner, Francisca Opaluwa, the Area Town Planning Officer, Igalamela /Odolu Local Government; Town Planner, Mr. Sani Daniel among others for their support and contributions so far towards ensuring the progress of the Association in the State.
