Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Aibro has said that he is in the race for the seat of the Nasarawa/Toto federal constituency, in response to the call of his people, and yarning for proper representation.
Hon. Aibro disclosed this while speaking as a guest on a political program (Tunbin Giwa) on 88.5 Campus Radio, in Nasarawa, on Sunday.
Explaining further, Aibro, who recently returned to the country after a stint with the United Nations Organisation (UNO), said he was motivated to join the race after his people realized the mistake they made back in 2019, and have shown readiness to correct by supporting his candidacy.
He said he was in the race because he has the qualifications, experience, and exposure to provide effective and efficient representation for his people, where the voices of his people would hear loudly.
While lamenting the dismal representation by the present lawmaker representing the constituency, Hon. Aibro said he is optimistic that he can provide the required representation and protect and project the interest of the people.
“I’m joining the race for the Nasarawa/Toto federal constituency seat in response to the call from my people.
“Many are not happy with the present representative and are therefore calling on me to salvage the situation,” he said.
According to the House of Representatives aspirant, he was drafted into the race to correct the mistake of the past.
Recall that Hon. Aibro contested the Nasarawa/Toto federal constituency ticket against the present lawmaker, Hon. Abdulmumini Ari in 2018.
After losing the ticket under the All Progressives Congress (APC), he joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP) but lost the election to the APC candidate.
Hon. Aibro, who has since returned to the APC said his sojourn in the SDP was out of protest but that after the 2019 general election, he saw reason to return to the APC.
