The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Yahaya Bello on Cultural Integration, Ambassador Kemi Olawumi, has described Culture as the true identity of all human.

Amb. Olawumi stated this at the 4th Edition of the Igu Koton-Karfe Cultural/Fishing Festival held at the Ohi-Ogbani pond in Kogi Local Government Area of Kogi State.

She said man loses identify without culture, pointing out that the need to sustain the culture a people are known for cannot be overemphasized.

She noted that the Igu Koton-Karfe Cultural/Fishing Festival has brought people from both far and near to again celebrate the identify of the people of the Area, expressing optimism that the festival will in no distant time attract more international communities.

“This is indeed a great event that we all must continue to appreciate and encourage the continuity of as well

“Culture is our identify, without Culture, we have no root, the great people of Kogi Local Government Area has root therefore they’ve gathered people from both far and near to showcase their identity

“Congratulations to you us all and in no distant time, this very festival will surely have more foreigners, tourists and investors troop out to witness this festival” she said.

The SSA appreciated the Wife of Kogi State Governor, Mrs. Rashida Yahaya Bello for sponsoring the 4th edition of the festival, saying such gesture will go a long way at encouraging more people to appreciate their identity.

“I also want to commend the Paramount ruler of this great Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Abdulrazak Sanni Isah Koto (Agabaidu), the Ohimege Igu of Koton-Karfe for his efforts at keeping the culture of the people alive

“Without doubt, this festival will surely be promoted beyond the shores of Africa and the people of this Area, Kogi State and Nigerians by extension will be happy for it”

Dignitaries from within and outside the State, Sons and daughters of the Area from both far and near, other well wishers trooped out in their thousands to witness fishermen, women and youths who throng the Ohi-Ogbani pond for a catch of the biggest fish as varieties of fishes were caught.
