A Non-Governmental Organization known as Young Entrepreneurs and Innovators (YEI) Foundation, has bestowed an Award of “Role Model” on Hon. Barikisu Avoyi-Nwogwu, Senior Special Assistant on Electronic Media to Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State.
The Award was bestowed on her at the Official Launch of the Group in Abuja, with the theme: “Young Entrepreneurship: Panacea for Security and Political Challenges in Nigeria”
The Foundation said the Award was in recognition of Hon. Avoyi-Nwogwu’s Leadership Quality, Humanitarian Services, Youth Empowerment and Mentorship.
Speaking, the Awardee, Hon. Barikisu Avoyi-Nwogwu who is the SSA on Electronic Media to Governor Yahaya Bello, appreciated the Foundation for founding her worthy of the recognition, saying it will spur her to do more.
She said leadership position was a call to service, stressing that she will continue to serve and leave a lasting legacy.
Hon. Avoyi-Nwogwu who dedicated the Award to God and Governor Bello, charged Nigerian youths to be entrepreneurship-driven to create a better future for themselves.
She urged Nigerian youths to look into the future while pursuing their dreams and aspiration and encouraged them to be innovative and passionate about their ventures.
She emphasized the need for fresh graduates to acquire entrepreneurship skills to become financially independent, describing such as a driving force that has brought her to her current stage.
“Nigeria youth should not look at what is happening now, they should look at the future, they should be able to create the future they want
“If you want somebody to change your world for you, you are just deceiving yourself because the changes we want starts from within you
“As a young entrepreneur, what comes to mind first is to start with what you have passion for, now we have graduates all over, no job for them, why not create one for yourself, calve a niche for yourself
“My driving force is from my inside, I hate people struggling to live, I like to see how I can raise people to be able to stand for themselves, I am not born with silver or golden spoon, even with the wooden spoon but I always try my best to create something for myself” she said.
Hon. Barikisu Avoyi-Nwogwu enjoined members of the Foundation to remain dedicated to achieving the Aims and Objectives of the NGO and impact the society and Nigerian youths positively.
In his Speech, the Director General of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Yakubu Ibn-Muhammed, who was represented by Iorhen Kwange as the Chairman of the Occasion, stressed the need for the young ones to take their destiny into their hands and take control of the Country.
“The young people has the zeal and energy to control the political environment to survive and impact the society positively, theeconomy will not be handed over to the youth if they are not dynamic enough to get the power
“The world is moving, the world has gone far ahead, ICT has taken over, things are no longer what they used to be, it will take young brain, young men and women who has gotten the knowledge to be able to take this Country and move it in a manner to be able to compete favourably with youths from other Nations
“I hope this Foundation will be a stepping stone for the youth and those who are innovative and creative will be able to use this platform to ensure that this Country is not static but will move forward” he said.
In his opening address, the Founder and President of YEI Foundation, Ofeoshi Abraham said the NGO is to provide platform for the youths to come together to overcome the challenges of unemployment.
Abraham noted that a constructive and result oriented approach is needed to surmount the challenges of unemployment in the Country.
He pointed out that incessant killing of youths and the increase in Yahoo plus gave rise to YEI Foundation with the hope of getting the youth engaged in entrepreneurship.
The Founder called on the youths to create passion for entrepreneurship to take charge of the economy and other sectors of the Nation to the advantage of the citizens of the Country.
The Non Governmental Organization – Young Entrepreneurs and Innovators (YEI) Foundation, was founded in 2016 with focus on campaigning, inspiring and training Young people to embrace the culture of entrepreneur in order to better their lives and improve the industrial sector of the economy with the vision of improving young people.
