The Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency (KGCSDA) in collaboration with the Nigeria Covid-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) has commenced the training of Community Project Management Committee and Sub-Committee Members in the State.
The 144 Participants attending the Community Project Management Committee and Sub-Committee Members were drawn from the Central and Western Senatorial District of Kogi State.
The Community driven project, a result-oriented program that affords Communities to actively design the project of their desire has 12 Communities including Adavi – Eba, Eyika, Apata-Ipatun, Asanta, Bagido, Iluke – Bunu, among others.
Speaking at the event, the General Manager, KGCSDA, Chief Momoh Dauda, congratulated the Members of the Committee over their selection for the training.
Chief Dauda said the intervention Project is basically aimed at bringing development to the rural Communities and cushion the effect of COVID-19, stressing that it will go a long way at increasing the livelihood of the benefiting Communities.
He pointed out that the Agency has been up and doing at discharging her responsibilities, pointing out that more will be achieved through their collaboration with the NG-CARES.
The GM assured that the team will not relent at actualizing Federal Government‘s objective of setting up NG-CARES, calling on the representatives of the various Communities at the training to accord all necessary attention to the training.
The KGCSDA Project Officer, Education and Training, Yusuf Ondeku Jimoh, said the training is meant to sensitize and train beneficiaries, calling on them to give attention to the training.
Jimoh explained that feedback mechanism was important as it is expected of the Participants to take the message and lessons learnt back to their various Communities.
A participant, Chief Christopher Ayo of the Agido Community Development Association, described the training as an eye opener, stressing that the Community will personalize the intervention projects given them.
Chief Ayo commended CSDA for always living up to expectations in the discharge of her duties and prayed God to see the team through.
Another Participant, Aino Ahmed from Eyika-Ohizenyi Community in Kogi Central, expressed joy over the training, promising to put to use, knowledge gained at the training.
Detailed presentations were made at the Training on Overview of NG-CARES including the Programme Development Objective – PDO/Community Driven Development – CDD Concept, Key issues in CDP/GrDP Formulation, Gender & Vulnerable Issues Mainstreaming; Financial Management, Bookkeeping; Participatory Monitoring & Evaluation; Community Contracting & Procurement; Operations, Maintenance and Project Sustainability; Environmental Management & Social Safeguard; Grievance Redress Mechanism; Report Writing and Documentation, amongst others.
NG-CARES is a Federal Project in collaboration with the State Governments to expand access to livelihood, food security services and grant for poor and vulnerable groups among others.
