Kogi State Government has promised improved information dissemination in the days ahead.
Special Adviser to Governor Yahaya Bello on Public Relations, Ambassador Ahmed Bolori, made the promise when he paid an unscheduled visit to the Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation, Lokoja alongside other government officials.
Ambassador Bolori said the visit was in line with the commitment of Governor Bello to ensure good governance and productivity at all sectors.
He noted that part of the purpose of the visit was to access the state of the Radio Station, stressing that the State will do the needful to ensure the Headquarters of the Station comes alive.
The SA pointed out that the Governor has touched all sectors in the State, while assuring the commitment of the State government towards ensuring the people of the State gain access to quality information.
He commended the DG, Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation, Alhaji Ojo Oyila-Ozovehe, Management and other staff of the Corporation for their commitment to duty, calling on them sustain such efforts.
He however stressed the need for the Station to think outside the box and make the Station a revenue generation hub, and employed the management to generate ideas that will help sustain the Station.
“Radio globally has turned to revenue generation to sustain it’s operation
“The quality of programs, good sound, setting up human interest programs, putting up good business plans, will help generate good revenue
“Create Business Development Department in this Radio Station, bring up a team of willing, committed and creative fellows that will help generate revenue
“Good content, creativity and new initiatives are needed too, start thinking of generating revenue for sustainability” he said.
Ambassador Bolori noted that the return of the Station will be in full force, calling on the management to be more creative and productive in the discharge of their duties.
He assured that the government will continue to play her role as expected, urging the Station to stay alive at disseminating information to the populace at all nooks and crannies of the State.
Earlier, the Director General, Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation, Alhaji Ojo Oyila-Ozovehe, commended the State government for approving two transmitters to enable the Headquarters of the Station return to air after breakdown of some critical equipment.
Alhaji Ojo Oyila-Ozovehe expressed the commitment of the Management and staff of the State Broadcasting Station at discharging their duties at all times, while congratulating the SA on his appointment.
For more efficient service delivery, the DG appealed to the Government to provide operational vehicles to ease the transportation stress faced by some staff.
In a vote of thanks, the Director, News and Current Affairs Department, Pastor Gowon Edibo said the Station is known for excellence, stressing that the management and staff will sustain such.
He commended the SA and other government functionaries for the visit, stressing that Station is committed at enlightening, educating and entertaining the people of the State through quality programs.
