Aduku Emmanuel, Ankpa I State Constituency flag-bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been substituted for Hon. Akus Lawal.
In a telephone conversation at the wee hours of Sunday, 25th July, 2022, Hon. Aduku explained that he woke up to the shocking news as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) released the list of Assembly Candidates where his name was missing.
While lamenting over such strange development, he pointed out that the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello had earlier at the Sharaton Hotel Abuja, in his love for people with special needs singled him out for the ticket of the Party in his Constituency, saying that some Group of persons connived and substituted his name in a build up to the 2023 General Elections.
“His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi State has done well for us
“At the Sharaton Hotel Abuja, he promised to see to it that I emerge winner of the Primaries of the APC for the Ankpa I State Constituency and he kept to his words
“But on the long run now, some persons connived together, disobeyed his Excellency’s directive and removed my name from the list that has been submitted to the National body of the APC
“I will continue to praise for His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello for his rare show of love to Persons with disabilities
“He is the first Kogi State Governor that signed Disability Bord in Kogi State, he recently gave a physically Challenged Outing corps member a job so, We are super grateful to him” he said.
Recall, on the 25th of May 2022, Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello granted the physically challenged Aspirant for the Ankpa I State Constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Aduku, an automatic nod to be granted the House of Assembly ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2023 Elections.
This singular act, attracted encomium from all and sundry within an outside Kogi State, describing Governor Bello as one who cares for people with special needs in the State.
At the Primaries, report has it that Hon. Aduku Emmanuel emerged winner, polling 22 Votes to defeat other contenders, Hon. Lawal Akus and Hon. John Aduga who had 3 and zero (0) votes respectively.
The latest development calls for concern as the State Government is advised to take the necessary action and help restore the mandate of the physically challenged Hon. Aduku Emmanuel to give him and his Community a good sense of belonging in the society.
