Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, Members of the National Assembly and all Northern Governors have been called upon to eliminate the menace of banditry and other forms of insecurity in the Northern part of the Country.
The Speaker, Northern Youths Assembly Of Nigeria(NYAN), Rt. Hon Ibrahim Mohammed Lawal, made the call in a statement he signed and made available to the Press on Sunday, 24th July 2022.
Rt. Hon. Lawal explained that the Northern part of the Country used to be a peaceful arena in time past, decrying that the spate of insecurity has eaten deep into the fabrics of the society, causing havoc to all parts of the Economy.
He lamented over the manner farmers has to pay protection taxes to bandits in some Northern parts of the Country, calling on the powers that be to live up to expectations by protecting the lives and property of the people.

“The Northern Nigeria was a relatively peaceful place with pictures of our leaders and forefathers sitting outside on their mats with their family and kinsmen
“That blissful memory is fast fading away now and the cries of banditry, terrorism, cattle rustling, farmer and herder clashes are staring us right in the face
“Our farmers now pay protection taxes to bandits, our sisters are kidnapped, raped for days and returned
“We cannot keep quiet and pretend that all is well, the North is being engulfed
“We voted the President because we believe he had and has the best intention for now but intentions are clearly not good enough
“We call on the President, the National Assembly and all Northern Governors to eliminate this raving menace before it eliminates us all, quench this fire while you still can” he said.
