As the 2023 general election approaches, Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim popularly called AIBRO has declared intention to contest for the House of Representatives for Nasarawa/Toto Federal Constituency.
AIBRO, who is contesting under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while presenting his manifesto to the Constituents on Monday, disclosed that following the clarion call by the good people of the Constituency to represent them, he deemed it necessary to answer their calls.
Because theelection into the National Assembly is a national assignment, AIBRO said his manifesto focuses on the nation in general while the other on the people of Nasarawa/Toto Federal Constituency in particular.
If elected, he promised to sponsor Bill to abolish the age limit in recruitment into thegovernment and the private sector, following observed hiccups that delayed students from graduating from higher institutions in Nigeria at the expected period.
“This Bill becomes necessary because such delays in the pursuance of educational careers occasioned by incessant strikes and other anomalies that characterize our educational system affect the patterns of studies thereby causing unnecessary delays in educational progression
“Employers of labor usually peg the age limit for applicants and in a situation where such applicant is delayed unnecessarily in the institution of learning, there should be a parliamentary consideration to ensure he or she gets employed because of the disruption of their educational career which invariably extends their age in school.

” For instance, a student who plans to graduate at 21 may end up leaving college at 25 in addition to 1 year National Service making it 26. On the other hand, employers of labor often peg the age limit for recruitment at 22
“I will sponsor a bill to ensure that Nigerian youth do not face lack of employment because of the irregularities that affected their studies” he promised.
Alhaji Ibrahim also promised to sponsor a bill to make it mandatory for government agencies and the private sector to accept National Youth Service Corps members posted to them for primary assignment, in rejection of corps members, which he noted causes frustration on the corps members.
” When the Bills becomes a law, no agency of government or the private sector will be allowed to reject corps members posted for their primary assignment”
“I will sponsor a Bill to abolish secret recruitment into the public service. At present, recruitment into the public service is shrouded in secrecy with only the privileged ones getting an appointment
The Bills when it becomes law will make it mandatory for Ministries, Agencies, and Parastatals to provide vacancies for recruitment”
He noted that theFederal Character Principle; as laudable as it is, has outlived its usefulness as it promotes mediocrity and promised to move for its repeal to give way to the best to handle all sensitive responsibilities without fear or favor.
Other Bills to be sponsored include a Bill To Separate The Office of The Minister Of Justice From The Attorney General Of The Federation, a Bill to Institutionalize Social Welfare in Nigeria, and a Bill to
Make It Mandatory For States To Pay Their Matching Grant For Universal Basic Education.
AIBRO said he strongly believes that to redeem primary education in Nigeria, state governments have a great role to play, calling on all to live up to expectations in the discharge of their duties.
