Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has been commended for ensuring the wellbeing of orphans in the State.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Orphanage Homes for the 21 Local Government Areas of the State, Hon. Sarah Itopa Ogido, gave the commendation when she visited some Orphanage Homes in the State.
Mrs. Itopa described the Governor as a leader who is committed to ensuring that children in orphanage homes are given adequate care, stressing that the Governor through his magnanimity, have been able to serve as a father to the fatherless.
The SSA explained that orphans are as important as every human in the society, noting that her visit was to identify their challenges and serve as succor to them.
She assured that under the present Administration, children in orphanage homes across the 21 Local Government Areas of the State will be properly taken care of to enable them become achieve their dreams and contribute their quota to the development of the society in the days ahead.
Hon. Sarah Itopa Ogido identified some challenges facing the orphanage homes visited to include; mobility, dilapidated buildings, education and feeding, lack of scholarship, among others.
She appealed to Government and well-to-do individuals to come to the aid of children in orphanage homes by attending to their major challenges, especially feeding and renovation of their buildings.
The Management of the orphanage homes visited appreciated Governor Yahaya Bello for his good work towards orphans in the State, saying that the Governor had accorded rare attention to orphanage homes through the appointment of a Senior Special Assistant on Orphanage Homes.
Stagi Cornerstone Orphanage Home – Adankolo, Margret Orphanage Home, Ministry of Mercy Orphanage Home and Rehoboth Orphanage home were visited by the SSA.
