The Second phase of Distinguished Senator Smart Adeyemi‘s Solar Light Project for Kogi West Senatorial District which commenced approximately two months ago, will continue this week in Koton-Karfe.

This news met us with a lot of joy and excitement. The project which is billed to cover an estimated fourty (40) communities within the eighty five (85) wards of the Senatorial District is making giant strides and gathering momentum towards completion. This is in fulfilment of the campaign promises made by DSSA, specifically that dividends of Democracy must be brought home to the people of Kogi West Senatorial District.

He has kept to his words, irrespective of political sentiments and individual variations, as a true leader should. He is resolute in continuing to deliver on quality representation for his people at the red chamber and will not renege on his mandate until June 2023, when he will be expected to bow out of the Senate as an undisputable outstanding Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We are indeed proud to be associated with him and this development.

Recall, that four Hundred and fifty Solar poles had earlier been provided in the initial and maiden phase of what we would like to refer to as “Project Light Up”. This second phase will have a total of five hundred additional poles. The project is to have one thousand poles in total; we are therefore anticipating the balance by the end of the year. In line with our usual processes, we will keep the general public duly informed as events unfold.

During the first phase, there were allusions that some of the individuals in charge of implementation failed to ensure that poles were fixed in their originally designated places which included more of public areas and strategic points that would have ensured better and even distribution to the benefit of majority citizens of Kogi West. We appreciate the feedback and have put measures in place to mitigate reoccurrence going forward.

To ensure that the purpose of this project is not truncated, coordinators of this second phase will comprise a minimum of three indigenes per local Government to be nominated. Their names will be released accordingly for public consumption before the process flags off. This is to ensure the strict adherence to the even distribution of the solar poles to nooks and crannies of the local governments and most importantly, to ensure due diligence and accountability.
