2022 Flood: Hon. TURAKI, Hon. Folaranmi, Bring Succor to Victims in Lokoja

Following the devastating effect of the 2022 flood that wrecked havoc on several Local Government Areas in Kogi State, Hon. Abdullahi Idris Turaki and Hon. Henry Francis Folaranmi, the Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency and Lokoja 1 State Assembly Candidates both of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) respectively, has brought succor to flood victims at Wards A, B and E in Lokoja Local Government Area through donation of relief materials.

 

Tubers of yams, bags of garri, rice, salt, sugar, noodles, spaghetti, vegetable oil, as well as toiletries and textile materials were donated by the 2023 Candidates of the NNPP to cushion the effect of the flood on the victims in the Area.

Speaking during their visit, the NNPP Candidates said the gesture was to ameliorate the sufferings of the people as a result of the natural disaster.

They noted that those with broken fences, houses, roofing, and others who lost their farmlands and crops would be supported.

The NNPP Candidates lamented the damage the flood had caused especially in Lokoja and Kogi Local Government Areas, describing it as most pathetic.

The Candidates who were flanked by members of the Party, called on the Federal and Kogi State governments to immediately put in measures that would mitigate the perennial flood as well as its effect on the people.

While calling on well-to-do individuals to come to the aid of the victims, they also urged politicians to put politics aside and render help to the flood victims who they explained that were visibly suffering.

The NNPP Candidates promised to extend same gesture to other affected communities in Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency.

Receiving the relief materials on behalf of the victims, Alhaji Muhammed Isa, appreciated the NNPP candidates for the gesture and further beckoned on the federal and state governments to come to their rescue.
