The past couple of weeks have seen the Campaign of the Akwa Ibom APC Governorship Candidate, Obong Akan Udofia come under serious attacks ranging from frivolous sponsored litigations in Courts to vandalisation of campaign billboards and most recently a deliberate Campaign of calumny launched by PDP minions on social media.
Amidst all of these, the Akan Udofia Campaign organization have continued to carry themselves with utmost decorum and a deep sense of propriety throughout the current election cycle. This resolve is a reflection of the personality of the Principal, Obong Akanimo Udofia.
Being the Gentleman that he is, Udofia has gone about his engagements with the electorate in a civil, polite and diplomatic way, sticking to his personal conviction of running an issue based campaign and sharing ideas on his message of shared prosperity for Akwa Ibom people.
It is thus rather worrisome that this amiable Gentleman has been at the recieving end of sponsored hate filled diatribes from some uncouth nitwits and intellectual lilliputians the most recent being an asinine publication credited to a faceless miscreant with the pseudonym Udeme Essen.
For avoidance of doubt, Akan Udofia’s quest to be Governor of Akwa Ibom State springs from a deep seated conviction that the fortunes of the people of Akwa Ibom State ought to be far better than it presently is. It’s not a product of hatred nor the machinations of an incumbent seeking to plant a stooge as successor.
However, since some Candidates have decided to throw caution to the winds, we are obligated to reciprocate the gesture and ensure that we do not submit to any form of written or verbal blackmail or attacks by any individual or group of individuals and our quiet position in the face of various provocations should not be taken for granted.
It was the 34th President of the United States, Dwight D. Eisenhower that rightly pointed out that “The supreme quality for leadership is unquestionably integrity. Without it, no real success is possible, whether it is on a football field, in an army, or in an office.”
Stone throwing is not a very smart hobby for people who live in glass houses. I don’t see why a candidate with dubious and questionable academic credentials should commission a senseless and ill conceived media attack on another Candidate.
The most basic requirement for leadership is personal integrity and someone deficient in this quality has no moral right to attack a man who is not encumbered by that kind of challenge.
Unlike other Candidates, Akan Udofia comes with a clean track record. He has no baggage, no Certificate scandal nor criminal indictment of any sort. What he brings is a glittering record of business successes, and unmatchable philanthropy both at home and abroad.
As a loving Father to three daughters, Akan Udofia loves children and has particular affection for the girl child whom he will always cherish and protect. Anyone who has seen how he takes care of his daughters will see the warmth and love in his heart for the girl child and he has been seen in several public events showing similar care to many children. He has always pledged to ensure greater opportunities for women and children when he becomes Governor of Akwa Ibom State. We dare anyone to show us any other Governorship Candidate in the State who has shown such level of commitment and care for Children.
The success of Obong Akanimo Udofia in growing his company from relative obscurity to emerge as one of the foremost indigenous companies in Nigeria’s Petroleum and Allied Services Industry points to hardwork, discipline, resilience and dogged determination to succeed.
His private sector experience spanning across Maritime services, shipping, oil and gas and real estate cannot be compared to that of a man whose only claim to a professional career is running a chain of glorified brothels in Uyo.
Unlike most others who live off government patronage and embezzlement of tax payers money, Akan Udofia remains a self made Man and accomplished technocrat of note.
He is unarguably the right man for the next phase of the development of Akwa Ibom as a State with shared and diversified prosperity for her people. His emergence as Governorship Candidate of the APC has changed the state’s political landscape and brought great joy to the vast majority of Akwa Ibom people who cannot wait to give him their mandate come 11th March 2023.
It is thus no coincidence that the camp of the stooge imposed by a mediocre Governor, who is wishing to extend his stay in office by proxy, is increasingly scared of the rise and rise of Obong Akan Udofia. Expectedly, the PDP hegemony that have been holding the state down for years are seriously afraid and rattled from their reverie hence the resort to all manner of scorch earth tactics including cheap propaganda and blackmail to pull him down by all means. They have also deployed paid hirelings with warped minds to cyber stalk and impugn the character of Akan Udofia on Social media in contravention of the Nigerian Cyber Crimes Act.
However, we will not be deterred nor be silenced by their antics. The Akan Udofia Campaign is marching on and generating a widespread sense of excitement among the populace. No conspiracy or smear campaign can stop a man whom God has ordained to be on the ballot and ultimately in Government House.
