Two Professional Bodies, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Lokoja District Society, and the Association of National Accountant of Nigeria (ANAN), Kogi State Branch, staged a Health Walk in Lokoja, the State Capital with a call on Accountants to be prudent in the discharge of their duties.
The Health Walk, which was staged as part of activities marking the 2022 International Accounting Day, started from the Stella Obasanjo Library, through the Murtala Mohammed way en route General Post office to the Paparanda Round-about and terminated at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Center Lokoja.

It was the first time ANAN and ICAN are stagging Walk in the State, a development the two bodies described as the begging of greater things to come for the Professional Bodies in the Confluence State.
Enumerating the importance of the Day, ICAN Chairman, Lokoja District Society, Olajide Samuel Alegbeleye, said the Day creates opportunity to celebrate an Italian Mathematician, Luca Pacioli, who wrote a book that gave indebt on the principles and practice of book keeping.

Alegbeleye said Accountants plays significant roles in the Society, calling on Accountants nationwide to hold the ethics of the Profession with high esteem.
“This Day is celebrated by Accountants Globally to showcase who they are, what they do in the society and why people should appreciate the prominent role they play in the development of the society
“Accountants should be role models,they should do their work diligently, Accountants should not be part of fraudulent activities, they should be among those fighting corruption in the society” he said.
While speaking about the collaboration between the two bodies in Kogi State, the Lokoja District Society ICAN Chairman explained that greater result is achieved in the atmosphere of synergy and oneness.

He pointed out that the synergy between the two was also a display of love, harmony and the readiness of the bodies to make great impact in the society.

On his part, ANAN Chairman, Kogi State Branch, Alhaji Ihiabe Ilyasu, expressed happiness over the collaboration between the two bodies in the State, describing the Health Walk as a huge success.

While commending Accountants in the State for their efforts so far, Alhaji Ilyasu enjoined them to stay committed to their duties for a better society.
On her part, the Coordinator, Professional Women Accountants in Nigeria (POWAN), Kogi State Chapter, Mrs. Olayintan Mirian Egbu, appreciated members of ICAN and ANAN in the State over the collaboration, saying that the bond of Unity between the two will be strengthened the more.

Mrs. Olayintan Mirian assured that POWAN, which is the women wing of ANAN, is committed towards ensuring that women Accountants lives up to expectations, calling on them to stay focus in the discharge of their duties.
The two bodies asserted that Accounting remain the only Profession that is practiced on earth and in the hereafter as everyone will give ACCOUNT of their deeds on earth on the day of judgement.
November 10th Every year, is a Day set aside as the International Accounting Day, to honor accountants for their service, commitment, and ethics to the profession.
