It was jubilation galore at the Adankolo Camp of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) as a Social Enterprise, I-Safe, in partnership with Identity-pass, brought succor to flood victims in Lokoja, Kogi State Capital.

The atmosphere was saturated with joy as the flood survivors Jubilate over the gesture of i-Safe towards them.

Kogi, a North Central State of Nigeria had her share of the 2022 Flood, as 9 Communities were affected by the natural disaster, causing setback to economic and other aspects of human endeavor.

The flood affected farmlands, houses, among others as many residents were forced out of their houses to the Internally Displaced Persons Camps.

Touched by the challenges faced by flood survivors across the Country, I-Safe, a Social Enterprise in Partnership with identity-pass, brought the relief materials to reduce their sufferings.

Some of the beneficiaries, Jumai Achanya, and Kande Magaji who spoke her local language – hausa, appreciated I-Safe for the gesture towards them.

They prayed God to continue to be with the donors and also prayed for their promotions in their various places of work.

The Camp Commandant, Aliyu Adoga and another Staff of the Kogi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Rekiya Amidu, both commended the Social Enterprise for the show of love and also asked for more to help those who lost their houses and businesses during the flood.

They both explained that the relief materials donated to the victims by the Social Enterprise was overwhelming, and charged others to emulate the good deeds of the Organisation by doing same to the flood survivors.

On her part, the Program Manager of i-Safe, Patricia Njoku, explained that the gesture was borne out of passion to contributing towards ensuring the survivals are encouraged to push further in life despite challenges.

She appreciated the sponsor of the movement, identify-pass, calling on others to also contribute their quota to giving life a meaning for the flood survivors.

“I-Safe is a Lagos-based Social Enterprise. It is a Community based initiative that advocates for women and girls safety, we do a lot of advocacy against gender violence, and we also do high impact programs across the States of the Country

“i-Safe also creates employment opportunities, skills training for livelihood, and gives mentorship to sharpen the future of the people

“We are passionate about inspiring safer Community so hearing about the incident that took place and the challenges the people are passing through, we decided to render a helping hands

“We also did this during the Covid-19 pandemic pandemic and we are doing this again because we believe that everyone should be cared for” she stressed.

The Program Manager of i-Safe commended the organisation of the people at the Adankolo IDP Camp, and appreciated SEMA Staff at the Camp for their efforts at coordinating the sharing of relief materials donated to the flood survivors.

Patricia Njoku encouraged the flood survivors not to give up, adding that “when there is life, there is hope”

Similarly, a Program Associate of i-Safe, Ayobami David Asipade, said touching the lives of others positively is the whole essence of human existence, calling on Nigerians to always seek for ways to help others in need.

“What i-Safe, in partnership with Identity-pass has done is an example of what’s expected of all human because the hallmark of our existence is touching the lives of others positively, have compassion and kindness towards others

“We have the vulnerable ones out there so people, especially the wealthy people, should extend their generosity to others and put a smile and ray of hope on their faces

“This is a wake-up call to others to ensure they contribute towards impacting the lives of other people, we are not here forever so let’s try and impact the lives of others at every given opportunity” David pointed out.

Food items, such as rice, beans, garri and tomatoe paste, among other items, and hygiene products, including sanitary pads, were distributed to the victims to ameliorate their sufferings.
