New Imam and Naibis have been turbarned to oversee the activities of the Central Mosque, Okengwe.
They are Alhaji Salihu Aliyu as Imam, while the trio of Ustaz Abdullahi Nasiru Gomina, Ustaz Ibrahim Zakariyau and Ustaz Barrister Ibrahim Daniya, serve as Naibis.
Performing the Turbanning ceremony, the Ohi of Okengwe-Ehi, HRH Ahmed Tijani Muhammed Anaje, congratulated them on the feat achieved so far in Islam.
The Ohi of Okengwe-Ehi said those chosen for the positions are people of reputable character whose commitment to the growth of Islam in the Area and beyond has been commendable.
He pointed out that leadership is a call to service, calling on the Imam and the Naibis to continue to strive to teach and preach the acts of Allah to Muslim faithfuls in the Area.
The Traditional Ruler also called for more concerted efforts at inculcating the culture of studying the holy Qua’ran by the younger ones, saying that such will go a long way at tackling societal menace.
Dignitaries at the event include representative of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, HRM Dr. Ado Ibrahim, all the OHI’s in Ebira Land, Shaikh Ahmad Rufai the grand Khalifa, Daudu Alh Abu Suru-Ohun the Onogunvo Obanyi of Ebira Land, Shaikh Alh Salihu Abere, Shaikh Alh Moh’d El Awal, among others.
