It was celebration galore and moment of testimonies of the good deeds as Mallam Abdullahi Suberu, a Psychology Lecturer at the College of Nursing and Midwifery Obangede (CoNO), took a bow from the Kogi State Civil service.
Mallam Abdullahi Suberu, popularly called “BABA PSYCHO”, joined the College in 1991 as a Clinical Instructor and retired in 2022 as a Director, Clinical Posting of the Institution.

Speaking about his personality is the Provost of the College, Dr. (Mrs.) Hannah Oziohu Abraham, who described Mallam Suberu as a special personality, a confidant and an easy going gentleman.
“Some started working with the hope that they will one day retire but for some reasons, such dream didn’t come to reality
“Mallam Suberu started well and today, he’s retiring healthy at a good age, it is only God’s doing and we rejoice with him
“In age, he is older than me and in the Profession, but his humility baffles me always
“Call him anytime of the day, he will always be there just to see that things work
“He’s indeed, a man of many parts with notable impact in the College and in the lives of the staff and our students, we will miss him” she said.
The Provost, who shed tears of joy during the ceremony said the commitment and support of the Retired Senior Lecturer would be greatly missed in the Institution.

She noted that the Retired Mallam Suberu’s selfless services at all times was highly commendable, calling on all the staff and management of the Institution to emulate his good deeds for the progress of the College.
Following the experience and commitment of the Retired Mallam Suberu, the Provost hinted the gathering of a retainment plan already put in place, saying that his departure from the Institution may be for a while pending when the retainment plan is concluded and approved by the relevant authority.
The Provost took time to offer special heart felt prayers for Mallam Suberu, asking God to take him to greater heights and as well, open more doors of opportunities for him.
Also speaking, the Deputy Provost of the College, Mrs. Barikisu Momoh, said the punctuality of Mallam Abdullahi to work was second to none, stressing that the large turn out of Members of the College to the ceremony was a testament of his love and care for others hence, they came to reciprocate same.
Mrs. Momoh described him as a humble personality who was approachable by all and sundry, adding that Mallam Suberu has laid a strong and positive legacy that will stand the test of time in the College.
The School Registrar, Reuben Usman, pointed out that the Retired “BABA PSYCHO” is blessed with several good attitudes that should be emulated by all.
Mr. Reuben described Mallam Suberu as a detribalized senior citizen who served as a caregiver to others and prayed to God to grant him long life to enable him enjoy the fruits of his labour.
The Bursar of the College, Mr. Kayode Timothy, described the Retired Mallam Abdullahi as a charismatic fellow who used his wealth of experience to contribute to the progress of the Institution.
Similarly, the College’s Director of Works, Awal Yusuf, noted that the services of Mallam Suberu in the State Civil service may have come to an end but his legacies in the Institution has no end.
Awal noted that Mallam Abdullahi is always positive in his thoughts and confessions and prayed to God to strengthen him in all his ways and also prayed to God to grant them strength to emulate and also be remembered for good during retirement.
Mallam Abdullahi Suberu (Rtd), in his response, appreciated staff of the College for the cordial relationship existing between them and the Provost, calling on them to sustain such for the progress of the Institution.
Mallam Abdullahi who went memory lane to recount those that started the job but lost their lives along the line, appreciated Allah for the gift of life and the enablement to retire well.
While praying for long life, he also prayed for the staff of the Institution to witness such a memorable day at the right time.
He charged them on unity, love, and more commitment to the job, calling on the staff to shun acts capable of causing setback to the College.
Mallam Abdullahi Suberu pointed out that many progress have been recorded under the leadership of the incumbent Provost, Dr. Mrs. Hannah Oziohu Abraham, praying to God to continue to help her make moves that will bring more honor to the College.
The Public Relations Officer of the College, Mrs. Binta Sadiq, said other Staff of the Institution, Mr. Ganiyu, Mr. Abdul Aziz amongst others, also testified of the good deeds of the Retired Mallam Abdullahi Suberu, adding that the occasion was well attended.
