The Kogi State Ministry of Agriculture has promised more support for women to thrive in the Sector.
The Commissioner of the Ministry, Mr. David Apeh, made the promise when a Non-Governmental Organization, Standup for Women Society (SWS), paid him a visit in Lokoja.
The Commissioner said he is impressed with the way women now support their families through farming, and appealed to the Organization to collaborate with other Ministries to enable women and children benefit from government programmes and policies at all levels.
Liberator Muslimat explained that SWS aims at galvanizing support and drawing attention for the total development of women at all quarters, stressing that the visit was to partner with the State Ministry of Agriculture to draw more support for women in Agriculture to enable them boost food production.
The State and National Public Relations Officer, Liberator Billie Nwogu and the State Chapters’ Special Adviser on matters, Liberator Habibat Onakpa in their separate remarks, appreciated the Commissioner for the support given to women through agriculture and appealed for more to boost the economy.
Liberator Billie noted that the Association will from time to time visit relevant Offices, schools and corporate organizations to talk to people of voting age on the need to go out and exercise their franchise ahead of the Institution 2023 General Elections.
