The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Professor Olayemi Akinwumi has enjoined Christians to exemplify Christ’s virtue by showing genuine love towards others irrespective of religious and ethnic divides during and beyond the festive season.
Professor Akinwumi made the call while celebrating this year’s Christmas, a Christian festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, with members of Staff and Students of the Institution in Lokoja.
In a statement by the University’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Daniel Ikechukwu Nwankwo, the Vice-Chancellor called on all staff and students of the University as well as Nigerians to continue to emulate the exemplary humility of Jesus Christ.
He stressed that a better society is assured when people humble themselves and live in peace with one another.
He seized the auspicious occasion of Christmas to urge staff and students to imbibe the attribute of love and continue to live in peace with one another as they celebrate the joyous season with sober reflection.
The erudite Professor of History, who expressed great joy over his Administration’s achievements in the last twelve months, thanked God for the successes the University recorded within the year under review, particularly the recent grant awarded to FUL by Abdul Samad Rabiu Africa Initiative (ASR Africa) under its Tertiary Education Grants Scheme (TEGS) for infrastructural development.

He equally acknowledged the staunch commitment and team spirit of his Management and all staff of the University while appreciating them for their sacrifices and continued support.
