The first African Professor of Neuro-physiotherapy, Tal-hatu Kolapo Hamzat, is dead.
It was gathered that the Ibadan-born scholar died after a brief illness in the early hours of Wednesday, 12th January, 2023 at the age of 52.
The Deputy Provost of the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Professor Fatai Adeniyi, confirmed the deceased’s death.
Late Tal-hatu Kolapo Hamzat, who was born in Ibadan on 15th June 1970, was one of the Professors that recently contested for the position of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan.
The deceased has been buried in Ibadan according to Islamic rites at the University of Ife Muslim Graduates Association (UNIFEMGA) Rest Park at Ile-Igbon area in Lagelu Local Government, Ibadan as the Janaza prayers (prayer for the dead) was also performed on him.

Hamzat obtained a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree with Second Class-Upper Division in March 1994 and obtained a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Physiology of Exercise in May 1998 and a PhD in Neurological Physiotherapy in February 2001.
He was survived by a wife and three children.
