Congratulations your Excellency, Yahaya Bello as you clock seven years in Office as the Executive Governor of Kogi State. You have done the unthinkable in terms of providing good policies and good governance that recognizes women.
You did the impossible by building an Edifice for the Kogi State Internally Generated Revenue Service (KIGRS), constructed the first flyover bridge, built Reference Hospital in Kogi Cenral, GYB model Hospital in Kogi East and West, renovating all cottage hospitals, Primary Health Centres including the building of new ones, providing power in some parts of Kotonkarfi that had over 20 years stayed without electricity, provided electricity for over two hundred communities in Kogi East who had since the creation of Kogi had no power, and other communities that suffered epileptic lights now enjoy stable electricity.
Governor Bello built GYB model schools across the three Senatorial Districts of Kogi State, a prototype is Science Model College Adankolo, Lokoja. Your Excellency, you are a passionate man who never ignores anyone no matter their class or status and because of your passion to build a safer State, you have concentrated on providing security for all.
You facilitated the construction of Forward Operation Base (FOB) in Achoze, Okene, the first Naval Base in Banda, Built the Nigeria Legion of Ex-servicemen State Office, engaged services of Local Hunters, State Vigilantes and over 400 constabulary police among regular police and Army to continue to fight insecurity to a standstill in the Confluence State.
On roads, I cannot mention all because Kogi Central, East and West have all received the touch of Kogi State Government on their township roads and major roads that connect them to other communities within and other States under your leadership. (It is better to visit these places to confirm).
All Gully erosion areas across Kogi East, West and Central are handled by NEWMAP and today you can only thank a visionary leader and Governor Bello.
On women in decision making, Governor Bello has surpassed the 1995 Beijing Declaration on 35% Affirmative Action. In Kogi State, the government through Governor Bello’s supportive ideas and actions made bold to appoint the first female Secretary to the State Government (SSG) from first to his second tenure in Office, appoints females as head of service till date, encourages female ADC by engaging the first female to be his ADC, he allowed women to participate in the last election that produced all Local Government Council Vice-Chairmen as women, he appointed the first female Chief Press Secretary, appointed females to man Agencies and Boards, and many females into his cabinet as aides.
When we talk about youths in leadership, Governor Bello is a good example of who God has made to be Governor at 40 and he believes in engaging youths as leaders of today, not tomorrow, the world will be a better place.
Today in Kogi, we have the youngest Chief of Staff to the Governor and the Deputy Governor, youngest Commissioners, youngest LG Council Secretaries and appointees spread across all Ministries and Parastatals.
Your Excellency, you have changed the usual norms and signed many Bills into law that have transformed the way and manner people do things. You signed the VAAP Bill into law and other Bills that are geared towards providing security and protection for the girl-child.
The people living with disability now have a sense of belonging because of your passion for all-inclusive governance.
No more tribalism, nepotism and religious bigotry in Kogi because one man – Yahaya Bello becomes the Governor. You ensured that the spirit of oneness dominates and built the first-ever Church in the Government House, Lokoja and today church services are being held regularly by Christians.
Your Excellency, your signature is seen everywhere. I pray that you finish stronger in the name of Jesus Christ. And I pray Whoever will take over from you will not disappoint you, the people of Kogi State and Nigerians at large.
WE LOVE YOU
YOU ARE A LEADER WHO CARES
