The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja, Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, has joined Nigerians across the Country in congratulating the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, and prayed for God’s divine wisdom as he assumes command of the world’s largest black race.
In a Congratulatory Message by the Public Relations Officer of the University, Daniel Nwankwo, explained that Prof. Akinwumi said the new President would require the moral and advisory support to fulfill his campaign pledges to Nigerians and to turn around the fortune of the Nation, calling on patriotic Nigerians to rally the government.

The History Professor however noted that it will not be an easy ride and urged the President to deploy the excellence that characterized his leadership during his tenure as Governor of Lagos State, stressing that with the help of God almighty, he will succeed.
“We seize this opportunity to congratulate our new President, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR on his Swearing-in as the 16th President of our great Country, Nigeria
“Indeed, the process have been so rigorous, but today we thank God that he has been successfully sworn-in. We have no doubt in his abilities to transform the Nation because he has done it before while serving as theGovernor of Lagos State
“As the Vice-Chancellor of a thriving young University, it will be my greatest joy to see in this administration a long-term solution to the funding crisis that plagues Nigerian Universities
“History will be gracious to whoever will champion this cause, ground and conquer this daredevil and bring our Universities at par with others across the World
“Mr. President, Sir, we hope that you would use your excellent Office to nip in the bud incessant strikes in Nigerian Universities by resolving current issues with University-based Unions. This will be the greatest delight of all Academics and true Nigerians”, he said.
Professor Akinwumi pledged to continue to pursue funding as a way to sustain development in the University, noting that the government alone may not be able to fund education.
He expressed hope that the era of reading the book of lamentation will soon be over with quality funding from the administration of President Tinubu.
“We can refocus attention and energy on more Research and Community Service to build a University that will train competent graduates capable of competing favorably across the globe while minimizing the ‘japa’ syndrome and help to develop an equitable society where every citizen will be proud to call his own
“With the wisdom of President Tinubu, I believe that he will ensure the needed turnaround in the education sector
“It is our hope that within the first 100 days in Office, the new President would have set the right tone for excellence. So I encourage Nigerians to have faith in his ability to uphold the democratic principles of his lofty position and start making progress toward fulfilling his campaign promises to us all”, Prof. Akinwumi stressed.
The Vice-Chancellor praised the administration of Former President, Mohammadu Buhari specifically for the presidential approval he granted for the upgrade of the Federal Medical Centre in Lokoja to a Federal Teaching Hospital, allowing medical students at the Federal University Lokoja to receive the best medical training possible as they prepare to take over the State’s and Nigeria’s medical workforces.
The Academic Don prayed for the outgoing president and wished him all the best in his future endeavors.
