Imo 2023: Odunzeh denies picking deputy governorship candidate, says it’s a placeholder

“My attention was drawn to a series of online reports that I have nominated a deputy governor candidate, even carried a name but a placeholder.”

The governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party for the November 11 governorship election in Imo State, Uche Odunzeh has denied reports that he has nominated a deputy governorship candidate but a placeholder.

There had been reports that he has picked and presented his running mate, saying he has never picked anyone.

He called on people of Imo State to disregard the rumour making the round that he had picked a running mate ahead of November election.

Odunzeh said he is still consulting relevant stakeholders to officially nominate a deputy governorship candidate by next week that will be acceptable to all.

He described such rumours as baseless and lauded the party leaders and executive members for contributing significantly towards the success of their victory at the poll.

According to him, his ambition to govern Imo State is divine, which God has clearly taking a direction to renew the Rebirth of Imolites.

‘I wish to use this medium to reach out to my supporters across Imo State to remain focused and committed to the ideal of new Imo State”.
