A House wife, Barikisu, has been beaten by her husband, Sanni at Apasede Community, Shetimma in Lokoja, Kogi State Capital.

The incident occured around half past one in the afternoon on Saturday, 01-07-2023.

Barikisu said the incident occured when she served him food and also served herself but refuses her to eat, claiming she had eaten before.

While trying to explain that she has not eaten, Barikisu pointed out that her husband angrily stood up and began to beat her mercilessly, leaving her right hand side eye swollen with her mouth bleeding.

She explained that it took the intervention of neighbours to save her from his hands and appreciated them for coming to her rescue.

“From the petty things I sell, he’s been stealing my money to drink and smoke, he wasn’t like that when he paid my sada’ak on 06-01-2023

“It’s not his first time of beating me, there was a day I went to greet my neighbour who gave birth, he came over there to beat me in the presence of strangers” she lamented.

Reacting to the incident, some Members of the StandUp for Women Society (SWS), expressed displeasure over the manner she was beaten by her husband, saying that her dignity has been reduced through the act.

The incident is coming a week after a similar incident occured in Okene, where a husband beats his wife to death; hence the need to put such to check to avoid unforeseen circumstances.
