Ohi of Okene’s Visit: Engr. Sadiku Praises Gov. Bello Over Successes Recorded in CUSTECH

The Vice Chancellor, Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) Osara, Engr. Salawu Sadiku, has praised the State Governor, Yahaya Adoza Bello over the successes recorded so far in the Institution.

 

Prof. Sadiku gave the commendation when he received the Ohi of Okene, HRH Alhaji Isah Mamman Okatahi at the University Campus in Osara.

 

A statement by the Head, Public Relations Unit, CUSTECH, Osara, Balogun Omeiza David, explained that the VC stated that the University’s successes so far is traceable to the rare attention given to the Institution by the State Governor, Yahaya Bello (CON).

He commended the Management of the University for their commitment to duty, describing them as a Group of persons who are progressive in nature.

 

Engr. Salawu Sadiku pointed out that aside CUSTECH having the shortest gestation period, the University is also the quickest to have a younger sister upon the recent establishment of the Kogi State University (KSU), Kabba and appreciated the State Government for according attention to the Education sector.

 

The Vice Chancellor narrated that the Ohi of Okene has been his childhood friend and lamented the demise of late Dr. Salihu Abdulrahaman, whom he said was one of them that was taken away by death, some days back.

Engr. Salawu thanked the Traditional Ruler for leaving the comfort of his home to see the level of progress made at CUSTECH, Osara Campus.

 

The VC appreciated the Royal Father for coming at a time when CUSTECH is still swimming in the euphoria of eleven (11) Programmes added to the existing nineteen (19) running Programmes by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

 

“It is always a thing of joy when Royal fathers pay visit to a place. Royal Fathers are more closer to the government and they can help to chip in one or two words that can help an Academic Institution to curry favour from the government 

 

“Their visit also in a way, serves as a means of protection for the University environment” he stressed.

 

In his response, the Ohi of Okene, HRH Alh. Isah Mamman Okatahi appreciated God Almighty for the fast growing Institution – CUSTECH, and commended Prof. Salawu Sadiku for always setting good Academic records.

 

“Then, when Kogi was with Kwara State, other students do engage in other fun fair activities but Engr. Salawu Sadiku was always glue to his books and writing materials

“He has been a bookworm from the onset and I am proud that today, he has reached the peak of his academic career” he said.

The Ohi of Okene likened Governor Yahaya Bello (CON) to the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, a man he described as knowing the total importance attached to education.

 

“It’s always a thing of joy for any community to have the presence of University within their domain therefore, words are not enough to thank our son, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello Bello (CON), the Executive Governor of our dear State – Kogi, for establishing this ivory tower which has helped in no small measure to remedy the once hard-to-get admission issues faced by our wards 

 

Governor Bello has succeeded in fulfilling the Ebira proverb which says, It is with three stones that the pot rest on to cook the food on fire” 

 

“We now have Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU) in the East, Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) in the Central and now the Kogi State University (KSU) in the West

 

“He is a political figure that is just, fair, caring and totally ready to see that Kogi State levels up with other advanced States within the Country and education is one key tool that can help us achieve this fast” he explained.

The Ohi of Okene thanked the Management team of CUSTECH, Osara for standing firm behind the Vice Chancellor, calling on them to sustain their efforts.

 

“I am going back home to tell my people that the Management Team at CUSTECH, Osara is a perfect definition of the expression revolving around putting a round peg in a round hole

 

“I am proud of them and my prayer for them all is that God Almighty will bless their children as he who helps one to climb the mountain is also climbing the mountain 

 

“They have helped the Governor to see his dream of establishing an ivory tower in the Central come to pass and all of them will surely receive the blessings of God from above” he added.

 

Highlight of the visit include presentation of the University Souvenir bags to the Ohi of Okene by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Salawu Sadiku, observation of a minute silence in honor of late Dr. Salihu Abdulrahaman and Tour of ongoing projects within CUSTECH, Osara Campus.

 

Other Management Staff present include the Bursar – Mr. John Alaji, the Director, Works and Maintenance, Arc. Usman M. Ahmed, the Director, Works and Physical Planning, Bldr Ismail Adoke and the Director, Academic Planning, Pharm. Muhammed Asuku Audu.
