The New Nigeria Peoples Party Gubernatorial Standard-bearer in Imo state, Mr Uche Ben Odunzeh, has lambasted Governor Hope Uzodinma-led government over the death tolls being recorded on daily basis in imo necessited by the nefarious killings of the innocent imo citizens.

He attributed negligence and insensitivity by Governor Uzodinma’s government towards the plights and welfare of the youths, to the persisting insecurity in the state.

Odunzeh who stated this recently on an arrival at Sam Mbakwe Airport in Owerri, following the escalating security problems bedeviling the eastern state.

He reiterated his readiness to combat every acts of criminalities being perpetrated by the youths in the state, contracted by disgruntled politicians through initiations of empowerments and development scheme programmes.

According to him, “I must say the failure of the governor to adequately address the needs of the population of imo youths, and lack of essential amenities and absence of employment opportunities for the youths had contributed to the rise in crime and unrest”.

The frontline Imo gubernatorial ticket- bearer of the NNPP, however advocated for a comprehensive approach to tackle the security problems and vowed to prioritize youth empowerment if elected as Governor of the state in the November 11 state election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Odunzeh also harped on the important need to invest in education and skills acquisition training programs, believing that by providing proper opportunities to the youths, they could become more productive members of the society and contributors to the state’s growth.

The NNPP chieftain reiterated his promise to focus on improving the provision of basic amenities, such as access to clean water, healthcare facilities, and better infrastructure across the state.

“A more secure and prosperous imo state could only be achieved through concerted efforts to uplift the youths and address their needs,”Odunzeh added.
