Lokoja youths to Kogi Assembly Speaker: We trust your leadership capacity
Youth groups in Lokoja Local Government have thrown their weight behind the leadership of the speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Honourable Aliyu Umar Yusuf, under whose authority, they have expressed their resolve to vote for the APC in next month’s gubernatorial election.
A press statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the speaker, Yabagi Mohammed, quoted the youths as saying they believe in the leadership style of the speaker and are committed towards ensuring the protection of his position in the state hierarchy.
They noted that under a short period that he has headed the state legislature, he has brought a unique leadership style that has endeared him to even members of the opposition, hence their decision to work for the APC and the candidature of Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo.
Convener of the meeting and Lokoja Local Government APC Youth Leader, Comrade Muhammed Agizo, who stressed that they decided to organise meeting to enable the youths ventilate their grudges with the party, said it was also meant to give everyone a sense of belonging and open a fresh chapter in the next administration that the November 11 election would usher in.
Mallam Saidu Yasidi, who spoke on behalf of the people of Ward ‘C,’ Abdullahi Hadi who spoke for Ward ‘D’, Suleiman Idris who spoke for Ward ‘B’, Abdulsalam Waniko who added his voice for Ward ‘A’ and others, enumerated the various challenges being faced by their communities and appealed for the speaker’s intervention.
The speaker noted that his commitment towards societal development was hinged on the passion he has for the upliftment of the downtrodden, noting that seeing the growth of the society is why he is in politics.
