Nasarawa Assembly inspects ongoing construction of New State Secretariat Complex
Nasarawa State House of Assembly has expressed satisfaction with the quality and phase of works at the ongoing construction of New State Secretariat complex Lafia and that of the remodeling of the State First Lady office.
The House also commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule for awarding the contract among other projects across the State saying that when completed it will create an enabling working environment and enhance effective service delivery.
Hon Suleiman Yakubu Azara, the Chairman House Committee on Works gave the commendation while inspecting the ongoing construction of New State Secretariat complex, Shendam Road Lafia and Remodelling of the Fist Lady Office at Govt, House.
Azara ( APC- Awe South) who is the Deputy Chief Whip of the House said that the visit was not to witch hunt anybody but to assess state government projects in order to ensure that right things are done.
The committee appreciated Gov. Abdullahi Sule for awarding the contract for the construction of state new secretariat complex Lafia, remodeling of state First Lady Office among others projects.
” We are here to perform one of our constitutional duties which is oversight.
” We are here to inspect and assess the projects with the view of ensuring that quality work is done.
” I want to appreciate His Excellency, Gov
Abdullahi Sule for initiating the project, that is construction of the New State Secretariat complex Lafia and Remodelling of the State First Lady Office,” he said.
The lawmaker expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done at the both projects.
” So far, we are happy with the quality and standard of work as quality materials are being used by the contractors.
” We urge the contractors to continue with the standard and quality of work we have seen and to deliver good job at the end of the day, ” he said.
The Chairman assured of the committee support to the state government in implementing and executing projects across the state.
While taking the committee members round, Sen. Husseini Agyebola, the Consultant handling the project said that the construction of the New State Secretariat Complex Lafia would be in phases.
The consultant told the committee that the secretariat would made up of 16 ministries, SSG and Head of Service block among others.
Agyebola said that the project which has duration of 8 months would be completed next year May, 2024.
In a related development, the committee also inspected the ongoing construction of Central Store, Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism where they commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule for awarding the work.
The committee also commended the contractor handling the project for good job.
It would be reported that in all the projects visited, the committee were taking round the projects by the contractors handling the projects including Arch. Mlanga Anyom John, the Project Manager for the construction of New State Secretariat Complex, Lafia.
The visit had in attendance commissioner for Works, Hon Muazu Goshu, Mr Ibrahim Angbolo, Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism among other management teams.
The commissioners also appreciated Gov Sule for his zeal in developing the state through project executions.
They assured of their determinations to ensure adequate supervision of projects under their ministries for quality jobs to be done by contractors.
