2026 FCT poll: Barr Zhidu joins AMAC chairmanship race

A legal practitioner, Barrister Danjuma Daniel Zhidu, has last Thursday, formally declared before the local government APC executives of his intention to contest for the chairmanship of AMAC slated for February 21, 2026 election.

He said as a legal practitioner with his years of experience, he has identified some of the challenges facing the good people of AMAC, hence, it is his desire to contest for chairmanship of the council in order to tackle such challenges headlong if elected as chairman of the council.

“It is a clarion call by the good people of AMAC who saw that quality of leadership in me, in which I decided to heed to their call to vye for the chairmanship of AMAC come February 21, 2026. And by the grace of God, if given the mandate, we shall tackle the challenges facing the people of AMAC because they deserve more than what they presently getting,” he said.

He, however, said that his administration will digital primary education across AMAC and prioritize teachers welfare, adding that his administration will give attention to youth and women empowerment.

Barrister Zhidu, however, said that his administration will ensure a synergy with the FCT administration towards addressing the issue of resettlement and compensation for the indigenous people of the AMAC.

He also pledged to prioritize rural infrastructure, health and agricultural sectors under his administration, adding that the girl-child education would also be among his blue print.

The chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chapter of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Alhaji Muktar Abubakar, commended the APC chairmanship aspirant Barrister Zhidu for coming before the the party’s executives and stakeholders to declare his intention to vye for the chairmanship of the council.

He said the party will ensure that it create a level playing for all the chairmanship and councilorship aspirants at the primaries.
