Nigerian, Adaku Ikoh makes history in USA, elected SNMA Vice President

A Nigerian-born medical student based in United States of America, Ms Adaku C. Ikoh has emerged as Vice President of Student National Medical Association (SNMA).

Her emergence followed a keenly- contested election by the association’s house of delegates.
The SNMA is a national organization that is dedicated to the serving of the needs of minority medical students and addressing the needs of underserved communities.
The organization was founded in 1964 as a sub-division of the National Medical Association (NMA) and became its own 501 ©️ corporation in 1971.
The role of the National Vice President is first as a Board of Director’s Member, and responsible for spearheading the programmatic arm of the organization through the SNMA’s twelve committees that serve its 193 Medical School Chapters and 206 Pre- Medical Student Chapters in all 50 states of the US, District of Columbia, and the Caribbeans.
Miss Adaku Ikoh secured this position through a demonstration of leadership qualities and strategic vision, and a commitment to the core values of the organization, with a background in programming and leadership of multiple committees including in her role as the Associate Regional Director to all Medical Schools in the states of Tennessee and Kentucky.
As Student National Medical Association SNM Strategic Planning Coordinator and Local SNMA Chapter President, Miss Ikoh brought a wealth of expertise to this pivotal role, poised to drive initiatives that will advance the organization’s mission and goals.
In addition to Ms Ikoh’s professional credentials, it’s worth noting her dedication to academic excellence as a final year student Medical Doctor; balancing the demands of medical training with her commitment to leadership within the organization, which speaks volumes about her resilience, time management skills, and ability to thrive under pressure.
This unique perspective as a student doctor brought valuable insights into healthcare and community engagement, further enhancing Ms Ikoh’s capacity to serve effectively in the role of National Vice President.
Meanwhile, a cross section of Nigerians on Saturday, congratulated Ms Adaku Cherish Ikoh on her victory as they look forward to seeing her excel in this noble assignment.
