The Ahonoyi of Ahoko community and council of chiefs in Kogi Local Government Area of the State, have conferred a chieftaincy tittle on Honourable Muhammed Abubakar Bashir Gegu, Commissioner for Solid Minerals and natural resources in Kogi State.
Engineer Bashir Gegu was conferred with the traditional title of Akumagu of chiefdom amidst eulogies from stakeholders, well-wishers and governing All Progressives Congress, APC, in the State and host Kogi LGA.
HRH Ibrahim Isah Babawo, Ohinoyi of Ahoko chiefdom, who spoke on behalf of his chiefdom said the people of the area have placed confidence and trust on Engineering Muhammed Abubakar Bashir Gegu in his ability to perform beyond reasonable doubt.
Alhaji Babawo said the commissioner has over the years shown courage, astuteness, capacity and credibility hence his election for title.
The royal father further stated that his title is targeted at strengthening peace, sustaining development and through the vision and mission of Kogi State Government.
He thanked Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for continuity with the legacy of the immediate past Governor, Yahaya Bello.
According to him, the people of Ahoko and Kogi LGA are so proud of their son and member of the State Executive Council, Engineer Muhammed Abubakar Bashir Gegu.
He also explained that Akumagu means a unifier and noted that honouring Bashir Gegu with such a special title will unite the people of the area more.
In his acceptance speech, Engineer Muhammed Abubakar Bashir Gegu said the Kogi State Government is committed to the wellbeing of traditional institutions and addressing insecurity in order to improve sustainable development of the State
“I am confident that I will not fail to meet the expectations of the people. I know that you will support me to succeed and build more pillars for the development of our communities,” he said.
The Commissioner who sought for his people’s support towards unity and work in one accord to surmount whatsoever challenges that confront their people.
He said Kogi State Government header by Ahmed Usman Ododo is determined to succeed and there should be no excuse for failure.
