Kano Government and PLANE Organize 3-Day Workshop to Enhance Education Sector Performance

The Kano State Government, in collaboration with Partnership for Learning for All in Nigeria (PLANE), has organized a 3-day workshop on Education Sector Performance Review (SPR) for 2023. The workshop aimed to evaluate the education sector’s performance, identify areas for improvement, and align activities with the government’s policies and implementation strategies.
The Commissioner of Education, Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa, emphasized the importance of reviewing performance to ensure alignment with the government’s policies and plans. He appreciated PLANE’s support and urged participants to utilize their experiences to develop a robust approach to addressing education challenges in the state.
According to a statement by Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru, Director Public Enlightenment, Kano State Ministry of Education, the Chairman of Kano State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alhaji Yusuf Kabir, explained that the workshop aimed to analyze the 2023 education plan, identify implemented and unimplemented activities, and determine reasons for any shortcomings.
The Executive Secretary of Kano State Private and Voluntary Institutions Board, Alhaji Baba Abubakar Umar, stressed the need for data-driven planning, while the representative of Kano State Accountability Forum on Education (KSAFE), Hajiya Ladidi Fagge, pledged to track performance and ensure judicious utilization of budgetary allocations.
The workshop featured a paper presentation by Director Monitoring and Evaluation, Ministry of Planning and Budget, Abbas Ilyasu Karaye, highlighting the importance of linking policy, plan, and annual budget to achieve organizational goals.
