Global Times Nigeria has obtained a report that United Kingdom, UK, has seen a recent surge in violence, with protests and riots breaking out across the country.
The unrest has been attributed to various factors, including far-right extremism, anti-immigrant sentiment, and misinformation spread on social media.
Reacting to the development, the Federal Government of Nigeria in a concerted efforts to avoid bloodshed issued a travel alert to Nigerians planning to travel to the United Kingdom.
In a statement issued by the spokesperson of the Ministry of foreign affairs, Amb. Eche Abu-Obe dated Monday, August 5, noted that there is an increased risk of violence and disorder occasioned by the recent riots in the UK, stemming from the killing of three young girls at a concert.
According to the statement, the violence has assumed dangerous proportions, as evidenced by reported att@lacks on law enforcement agents and damage to infrastructure.
To this end, citizens are advised to be extra vigilant and take measures as follows: Avoid political processions and protests, rallies or marches. Avoid crowded areas and large gatherings.
And vigilant and self-aware at all times. Demonstrations by far-right and other extra-parliamentary groups in parts of the UK in recent weeks have been large and, in some instances, unruly.
