WORLD FOOD DAY 2024: NGO calls for collaboration, effective deployment of extension agents.

Against the backdrop of the united nation’s World Food Day, the Executive Director of Sustain Aquagreen planet and food Security Foundation (SAP-FSF) Mr Onoja Ameh has called on the federal Government and relevant stakeholders in the agro-alied sector to scale up their intervention in boosting Agricultural production and sustainability to enhance accessible and affordable food for all.

While addressing journalist on the World Food Day on Wednesday, the ED commended the Honorable Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, African Development Bank , AFDB and others for synergizing to launch the SAPZ (Special Agricultural Processing Zone) project, Stating that the initiative will greatly impact on the fight against food insecurity in the country and beyond.

He reiterated the commitment of the organization to the enhanced production of sufficient and sustainable food supply through awareness and mass education of farmers in best agricultural practices and smart farming.

He emphasized on the importance of youth and women involvement in agribusiness and allied industry, Saying the organization’s “catch them young” initiative, is aimed at introducing Agriculture positively, to the teens and young ones in order to change the narrative cum mindset about agriculture being an occupation for the poor or peasants.

He called for collaboration between public, private and non-profit organizations to achieve food security in the country.

He also advocate for the effective deployment of agricultural Extension Agents to reach the farmers with new and innovative farming techniques for optimum food production.

The right to food for a better life and better future is achievable with concerted efforts, He concludes.
