Nasarawa: Court Sets December 2nd for Contempt Case Against Ex-PDP Chairman, Francis Orogu
The People’s Democratic Party is witnessing an escalating battle for dominance, following Presiding Judge Justice Abdullahi Hassan Shams Shammah’s ruling on Wednesday in the Doma local government area of Nasarawa State.
The High Court, Doma, had earlier issued a restraining Order against Francis Orogu, former State PDP Chairman, and the State Working Committee, prohibiting them from conducting any party Congress.
During the hearing, Ishaka Mudi Dikko, SAN, counsel for the plaintiffs, pointed out that Francis Orogu, former People’s Democratic Party Chairman, defied the Order by conducting ward and local government Congresses while it was still in force, and asked the court to cite him for contempt.

Dikko asked the court to declare the congresses null and void, as they were held in defiance of the court order, with defendants’ counsel not filing a counter affidavit.
The counsel for the first, second, and third respondents, namely M.A. Jacob, Ulegede, and Isyaka Kadiri, representing J.J. Usman, SAN, submitted that their counter affidavit had been filed before the court.
Regarding jurisdiction, Ishaka Mudi Dikko SAN, counsel for the plaintiffs, argued that the defendants misinterpreted the law, urging the court to disregard their stance.
