Nigeria and China’s trade relations have reached unprecedented levels – Vice President Kashim
Vice President Kashim Shettima has emphasized the notable trade relationship between Nigeria and China, describing it as one of Africa’s highest.
In 2023, bilateral trade achieved an impressive value of 22.6 billion dollars, exhibiting a remarkable annual growth rate of 33 percent.
Shettima emphasized the strength of this economic partnership during a meeting with a delegation headed by Zhang Qingwei, the Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Nigeria and China have maintained diplomatic ties for 53 years, since 1971. President Bola Tinubu’s visit to China in September 2024 further solidified these relations, with both nations committing to elevate their partnership to a comprehensive strategic level.
Shettima appealed to China for support in overhauling Nigeria’s security architecture, as he addressed security challenges.
