Nasarawa Governor directs government ministries, agencies to accept corps members for national development
….Urges commissioner for Youths & sports development to document and sanction those rejecting corps members
The Nasarawa State Government has given a directive to government agencies and establishments, mandating them to accept all National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, members posted to their organizations to facilitate development.
Governor Abdullahi Sule announced this at the closing ceremony of NYSC 2024 batch C stream 1 corps members at Magaji Danyamusa permanent orientation camp, Keffi, on Tuesday.
Declaring the 2024 batch C stream 1 orientation course of the National Youth Service Corps closed, Governor Abdullahi Sule, represented by his Deputy, Doctor Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe, emphasized that the contributions of Corps members to societal development cannot be overstated, thereby necessitating prioritization from all stakeholders for comprehensive development.
He lamented the way and manner some organizations rejected the corps members posted to them and thereby directed the commissioner for youth and sports development to take records of those organizations that rejected the corps members for prompt action just as he also tasked the corps members to accept their postings in good faith.
The governor assured the corps members of their securities of lives and property saying that Nasarawa state is a home of hospitality, Urging them to carry out their primary responsibilities without fear of any act by some unscrupulous individuals maintaining that all measures has been put in place to guarantee their safety.
Speaking in an interview, the director general of the NYSC, Brigadier General, YD. Ahmed warned the corps members against reckless driving particularly at night which he said it poses great danger to their lives.
Earlier, the Nasarawa State coordinator of the NYSC, Salamatu Muhammad appreciated the Nasarawa State government for always assisting the NYSC to succeed, as according to her, over the past three weeks, the corps members have been participated in different activities such as: Drills, lectures, value reorientation, sports, leadership training, and the Skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development program aimed at equipping them with skills to be self reliant.
Mrs. Salamatu, urged the corps members to use the social media responsibly to foster unity and growth of the nation rather than using it to spread false information that will affect the society negatively.
