Kogi State begins property enumeration to create a statewide data bank
Kogi State Bureau of Lands development initiates state-wide Property enumeration exercise for individuals, Organizations, Communities, and Foreign Investors to identify and claim ownership of their properties in a peaceful manner.
Baiyegusi Samuel Taiwo, the Permanent Secretary of the Bureau and Estate Surveyor and Valuer, stated this on behalf of the Director General of the Bureau, Alhaji Abdulmalik Teina
, while addressing Newsmen at the commencement of the new policy in Lokoja on Monday.
He stated that property enumeration is designed to create a precise database, allowing the government to develop strategies for the socio-economic and security advancement of the state.
According to Teina, the current administration under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s leadership has demonstrated a genuine commitment to transforming the entire state into a key economic and commercial centre, as well as an attractive investment destination, which is why the Property Enumeration exercise is being undertaken to create a Data Bank with accurate information on all existing lands and properties in the state.
He recommended that citizens join forces with the officers by furnishing property data, explaining that the exercise is intended to support state planning, not harass any individual.
Teina, equally, advised the residents against paying money to the Enumerators that are deployed on the fields for the exercise, pointing out that the exercise is free and no payment is required.
Teina, speaking through the permanent secretary of the Bureau, Baiyegunsi Taiwo, highlighted additional benefits, including facilitating business transactions, providing security services, establishing an investment destination, creating wealth, attracting foreign and local investors, and reducing land disputes between individuals.
“When actualized, it will make Kogi State a destination for local, national, and international earnings. The new initiative will resolve land disputes between individuals, communities, and organizations, noted Teina stated.”
Teina stressed that the state governor, Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo’s groundbreaking policy is tailored to stimulate the socio-economic growth and development of the state, permitting property owners to utilize the Google App to access their properties remotely, while citizens can collaborate with financial institutions to secure facilities with genuine property documents.
