Kogi CP Dantawaye urged Newly Passed-Out Police Constables on Discipline, Professionalism and Commitment

Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, Miller G. Dantawaye, has advised the 335 newly inducted police constables to prioritize discipline, professionalism, and commitment in their duties.

This emphasis aligns with his strategy to enhance security and maintain law and order in Kogi State.

Dantawaye assumed office following the retirement of his predecessor, CP Bertrand Onuoha, and has vowed to tackle crime effectively through community policing and strategic intelligence gathering.

In a statement issued by SP William Ovye Aya, Police Public Relations Officers, Police Command, said CP Dantawaye in his address emphasized on Discipline, Professionalism, and integrity as core values that every Police Officer must uphold. He encouraged the Constables to maintain a high level of personal and Professional conduct, urging them to present themselves with dignity and respect in all engagements.

The Kogi CP further urged the Constables to package themselves in a way that commands respect, starting with the fear of God. Noting that a disciplined Officer cannot engage in corruption, and taking bribes which will only lead to consequences. He added that their actions define the kind of Police Officer they become.

The Commissioner of Police further stressed the importance of discipline within the force, warning that insubordination and misconduct would not be tolerated under his leadership. He particularly highlighted the role of lawful directives in maintaining order, reminding the Constables to respect their superiors and adhere strictly to the chain of command. Stating that discipline is not negotiable in Kogi State Command. “Obey lawful orders, learn from your superiors, and do not allow yourselves to be influenced by bad elements within the force because, your career successes depends on your commitment to integrity and service.”

He also addressed the importance of continuous development through training and capacity building for the Constables to advance their careers in the Force. He added that the ongoing training by the Command will provide them opportunities to be equipped with the needed skills for better service delivery.

The CP concluded by welcoming the Constables’ to the Nigeria Police Force, Kogi State Command, assuring them that while the job demands sacrifice, hard work, and dedication, it also provides opportunities for growth and service to the nation.

The event which was attended by members of the command’s Management Team, and other Senior Police Officers, marked the constables’ formal induction into the Command’s workforce.
