Party Stalwart, Emereuwa defends Njoku-led NRM, call out Atiku, APC, PDP
Chieftain of the National Resuce Movement and former Special Adviser to the Governor of Abia state, Mazi Chinedu Emereuwa, has defended his party over allegations of monetary inducement of opposition parties by the President Bola Tinubu-led by ex-Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar.
Recall that former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, had recently accused President Bola Tinubu’s government of paying opposition leaders N50 million each to undermine Nigeria’s democratic process.
Atiku disclosed this at a national conference on strengthening democracy, organized by various civic organizations in Abuja.
Reacting, Emeruwa while interacting with newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja, exonerated National Resuce Movement and explained that the party under the leadership of Chief Edozie Njoku is founded on democratic principles and won’t encourage any attempt to institutionalize corruption in bid to truncate the present democracy in the country.
He noted that NRM is resolute in its course for enthronement of good governance at all stratas of political leadership in the country and compelling those entrusted with people’s mandates to discharge their responsibilities for the economic and infrastructural developments of Nigerian society.
Emeruwa reiterated the party’s committments to always engage government in power to provide lasting end to the myriads of problems impeding the Nigeria’s efforts to attain greatness.
The Southeast chieftain berated Atiku and cautioned him to desist from making unsubstantiated claims of this nature,in order to score cheap political points and destabilize the nation’s political system.
According to him, “The current mood of Nigeria calls for all citizens irrespective of party leanings to contribute in nation-building and deepening the present democratic process at all leadership levels of the country. Because the country is bedeviled by economic inflation, insecurity, and rest of others challenges which has subjected citizenry into hardship and poverty.
“I must say in unequivocal terms that for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to come out with such diatribes and accusation against leaders of opposition parties in this country is unhealthy to collective efforts of well-meaning and patriotic citizens restore the country on the path of economic prosperity, and make it a better place for her people. To engage government in power on its policy formulations and implementations it must be constructive, not to incite masses against leaders of this country with unfounded claims and information, just as this diatribes and lies dished out by a man who had been at helms of affairs of Nigeria as Vice President for eight years.
“I challenge Atiku to give names of these opposition leaders whom President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government paid money to subvert nation’s democratic process. And failure by him to name these leaders, he will be regarded as real enemy of democracy”, he maintained.
Continuing, Emereuwa passed a vote of confidence in the sterling leadership style of the National Chairman of National Resuce Movement, High Chief Edozie Njoku and further commended the party chairman for display of responsive leadership which has continued endearing Nigerians to queue behind the party as the only route to solving the country’s challenges.
Asked to speak on the mass exdous of defection of major political stakeholders of Nigeria to NRM, Mazi Emereuwa insisted that successive administrations in the country have failed to demonstrate capacity in profering solution to numerous challenges besetting the nation.
He took a swipe at his former party(APGA) and blamed Governor Chukwuma Soludo autocratic leadership style, and the incapabilities of the self-styled national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance as the reasons him and members joined NRM.
While describing NRM as main key to unlocking Nigeria’s greatness, Emereuwa believed his new party has well-defined developmental plans to rescue the country from current quagmire.
He said that with Edozie Njoku at the helms of affairs of NRM, the party will go into future elections and emerge victorious, and as well render efficient and responsive leadership in the country for the good of the people.
He therefore used the medium to call on every citizens of Nigeria to rally round National Rescue Movement in ending democratic misrule foisted on them by successive federal and state government in the country.
