VP Shettima Inspects Flood-Ravaged Mokwa Community, Vows FG Commitment to Rebuilding

Vice President Kashim Shettima, accompanied by Minister of Information & National Orientation Mohammed Idris and Deputy Governor of Niger State Comrade Yakubu Garba, conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the recent devastating flood in Mokwa, Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, accompanied by Minister of Information & National Orientation Mohammed Idris and Deputy Governor of Niger State Comrade Yakubu Garba, conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the recent devastating flood in Mokwa, Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State.

The visit took place on June 4, 2025, to evaluate the damage caused by the floods, which have killed over 200 people and displaced thousands.

During the visit, Shettima conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s directives, including the immediate release of ₦2 billion for reconstruction and 20 trucks of rice to support flood victims.

The federal government pledged to repair damaged bridges and rehabilitate drainage systems to prevent future disasters.

Shettima emphasized the government’s commitment to sustainable disaster management and ecological resilience in the area.

The delegation was received by Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba and other local officials, who expressed gratitude for the federal government support and called for swift intervention to restore infrastructure and livelihoods
