Benue killings: Prophet El-Buba hold protest in Abuja, slams Tinubu over negotiation with armed herders
By Sadiq Abubakar, Abuja
The General Overseer of El-Buba Outreach Ministries International (EBOMI) and Convener of IBBN, Prophet Isa El-Buba, on Tuesday, led some church members on a peaceful protest in Abuja, over Yelwata killings in Benue state, in which he slammed the federal government over call on Benue state government to ‘negotiate’ with the suspected armed herders in the state.
Our correspondent report that, Prophet El -Buba, alongside some church members, who carried placards with inscriptions such as ‘End the bloodshed in Benue’ ‘Our Children Deserve Better Future’ ‘Together Against The Killings In Benue’ and among others matched from Wuse zone II to Transcorp Hotel junction, Abuja.
Addressing newsmen, El-Buba said he decided to lead the peaceful protest to condemned the ongoing killing of innocent souls, especially people of Yelwata, which he said over 100 lives were as a result of attack by armed herdesmen in Benue state.
He described the Yelwata attack as a genocide being carried out against the innocent people of not only Benue state but the entire country, which he said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu needs to take an immediate and decisive action.
He said Tinubu’s response over the ongoing killings in Benue state falls woefully short in addressing the gravity of the situation in Benue state.
“I listened to the president when he was making a statement yesterday (Monday) and asking that the Benue people should negotiate and reconcile and discuss with the killers, which I don’t know how the discussion is gonna be and how the discussion will be carried out,” he questioned.
He added “I can’t imagine a father and his family loosing nine of their family members just in one night. And you expect me to sit down with the killers when the federal government knows who those killers are and where these killers are coming from,”.
“We can’t continue to be raising committee to be investigating of the matters of what is going on. And I believe that as the President and Commander in chief of the armed forces he is saddle with the responsibility of to take an action, because that is the reason why he sought for the office of the president of the federal republic of Nigeria,”he said.
El-Buba, however, said that he has conscience and the feelings as a citizen of Nigeria to remain silent as innocent people are being massacred in their homes by armed herders men.
“I can’t imagine, just one night over 100 innocent lives were killed and what president did was to give the governor of Benue state directive to go and raise a reconciliation team or committee that will reconcile the people and their killers. If you know the killers, why don’t you go after the killers,”he added.
“Hence, we are demanding an immediate action Mr president. You are the commander In chief and the balls stops on your desk. I want to also state clearly that, we are given a standing warning to the Nigerian state to take an action or I will mobilize millions of Nigerians across the nation to go out and demand to defend this country,”El-Buba threatened.
El-Buba, noted that despite Iran and Israel has been in a war for the past few days, both countries have not lost up to 50 lives, but over 200 lives were lost in a day in Nigeria.
