Hon Ameh Williams, Executive Chairman of Olamaboro Local Government of Kogi State, engaged traditional rulers, youth and women leaders, Fulani residents, and key stakeholders from Ofante, Ogugu, Adupi, Emodu, and nearby communities aa part of his administration efforts to sustained security of lives and properties in the area
The meeting was high-powered, including traditional rulers, women and youth leaders, security operatives, Fulani and Hausa leadership, political office holders, and other relevant stakeholders, reflecting a collaborative approach to security challenges in the area.
The Chairman’s visit aimed to address rising insecurity and Fulani-related tensions, focusing on ending recent kidnappings and farm invasions.
This initiative aligns with broader state security efforts under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, who has reiterated his commitment to zero tolerance for insecurity and supports community-led security approaches involving vigilantes and professional hunters.
The state security apparatus, including the Civilian Joint Task Force and police units, has been actively involved in arresting kidnappers and collaborators to restore peace in Kogi State.
Chairman Ameh Williams has also taken proactive steps by convening security meetings, establishing checkpoints, and conducting security tours in vulnerable communities within Olamaboro to deter criminal activities and protect residents.
The visit by Hon Ameh Williams to Ofante and Ogugu axis was a strategic move to foster dialogue among diverse community groups and strengthen collaborative security efforts to combat kidnapping and farm invasions in Olamaboro Local Government Area
Williams said, There is No-Free Zone For Insecurity In Olamaboro, he cautioned traditional rulers & Other community leaders Not to Toy With Security to Undermine The Effort of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo across the 21 LGA.
Hon Williams expressed gratitude to Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for his steadfast leadership and security efforts across Kogi State. He emphasized the need for urgent formation of local neighborhood watch groups in all the village and warned against spreading unverified security information on social media, which could incite panic. Call on the Security agents to fasttrack their quick response to security threat to the people.
The Chairman after listening to series of complain from the communities, further declared a ban on receiving fresh visitors (Fulani, Hausa, or anybody), pretending to be a farmer, stressing that anyone caught violating the directive or aiding unlawful settlements would face legal consequences. A community-wide curfew from 9pm to 6am was also announced, and call for a comprehensive census and profiling of Fulani,Hausa & Igbo resident in area.
Honourable Comrade Ameh Williams assured the people of Olamaboro that insecurity would find no hiding place in the area under his watch.
He set up committee of securities to monitor all security matters in Ofante and revert back for necessary action saying my father and mother are from Olamaboro if i dont protect my local government where will i run to if i allow insecurity to thrive, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has invested so much on securing the state and Olamaboro in particular, therefore, let us join hands together to secure our land.
The Kalekor of Ogugu Ofante commended the chairman for his unrelenting commitment to peace and safety, calling for more security presence in the area due to its boundary with neighboring states. He raised concerns about Fulani herders destroying farmlands and pleads for stricter control.
Superintendent Apev Jacob, the Divisional Police Officer, cautioned Fulani leaders against entrusting cattle to underage herders, while the DSS Boss in Olamaboro reminded the community that security is a shared responsibility and timely information is critical.
