Kwankwoso slams FG for neglecting Northern Nigeria

Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has publicly accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government of neglecting Northern Nigeria while focusing developmental resources and projects on the southern part of the country.

Kwankwaso, a 2023 presidential candidate from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and former Governor of Kano State, stated that the national budget and federal allocation appear to be heavily tilted towards the South, leaving the North underdeveloped and facing challenges such as poor infrastructure, insecurity, and poverty.

He specifically pointed to the deplorable condition of critical northern roads like the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano corridor that remain unrepaired, contrasting it with ongoing infrastructure development in the South.

Kwankwaso urged the government to ensure equitable distribution of resources across all regions to address these disparities and warned that neglecting the North could lead to worsening problems that would eventually affect the entire country.

He made these comments during the Kano State Stakeholders’ Dialogue on the 2025 Constitutional Amendment, emphasizing that the imbalance in government spending and project siting threatens national cohesion and stability.

This accusation has sparked public reactions and debates on social media, reflecting differing views on the state of regional development and resource allocation in Nigeria under the Tinubu administration.
