Tinubu’s Aide Warns Jonathan: ‘Those Urging You To Run In 2027 Once Drove You Out’

The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has cautioned former President Goodluck Jonathan against running for president in the 2027 elections.

Bwala warned Jonathan that some of those urging him to run, especially from northern Nigeria, were the same elements that had previously opposed and driven him out of office.

He suggested that their motives might not be genuine and cautioned Jonathan not to be hoodwinked, emphasizing that Jonathan is smarter than to fall for such ploys.

Bwala said Jonathan lack such capacity to defeat Tinubu in the 2027 elections, citing Tinubu’s strong political influence across Nigeria’s regions.

He also indicated that Jonathan’s good international reputation, built after leaving office, could be damaged if he re-enters the political fray under these circumstances.

Global Times Nigeria investigation revealed that Other groups, including the Eastern Union, have also advised Jonathan against running, arguing that his participation could weaken the opposition’s chances and indirectly aid Tinubu’s re-election.

Meanwhile, there are calls from some quarters, including a political group from the northeast, for Jonathan to run, citing his experience as valuable for Nigeria’s challenges.
