The Imo State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress ADC has called for the safe release of her member, Hon. Ngozi Ogbu abducted by gunmen.
Hon. Ngozi, a former lawmaker who represented Okigwe State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, was kidnapped on 7th September 2025, at Onuimo by suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN) – according to Police report.

Reacting to the incident, ADC in the State in a statement by the Publicity Secretary – Chief Macdonald Amadi, appeals for the immediate release of the Former lawmaker, citing fragile health condition.
The statement read;
“To those holding Hon. Ngozi Ogbu, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Imo State makes a heartfelt appeal, with deep worry and concern, for the immediate release of our brother and compatriot, Hon. Ngozi Ogbu
“His health remains extremely fragile, haven recently undergone a kidney transplant, and every moment away from proper medical attention poses a grave danger to his life. This distress is further compounded by the fact that his late mother still lies in the mortuary, awaiting a dignified burial
“We have seen the video released of Hon. Ogbu in the hands of his captors. While this brings relief that he is still alive, it also deepens our worry about his fragile health. Every passing hour makes his condition more precarious, and we plead that compassion and mercy guide your decision
“Hon. Ogbu is a gentle, peaceful and cosmopolitan politician – known for his kindness and harmless disposition. He has never been a threat to anyone. We beg you to temper whatever grievances may exist with humanity, and allow him to return home to continue his treatment and be with his family.
To his family, we stand with you in prayers and solidarity, trusting that this dark moment will soon give way to relief and joy
“To the government and security agencies, we call for swift and determined action to ensure his safe release. His health and well-being must be treated with utmost urgency.
We trust that humanity and compassion will prevail in this situation, and that Hon. Ogbu will soon be restored safely to his loved ones”, the statement added.
