Against all odds, Atiku Abubakar will run for 2027 presidency, commences consultation — Daniel Bwala
Despite contested several times and lost bid to become president of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, a former vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria seems to be pushing towards the next political suspension.
This was disclosed by a People’s Democratic Party, Spokesperson in the concluded 2023 presidential election, Daniel Bwala.
Bwala was speaking when he appeared on a live programme on Channels TV , Tuesday, where he described Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as a “president the country is missing due largely to his vast experience and capacity.”
Daniel Bwala, the spokesperson for the Presidential Campaign Organisation of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023, has claimed that former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, would “surely contest” again for presidency in the subsequent general elections.
Bwala said this when he appeared on a live programme on Channels TV which was monitored by News Week Nigeria on Tuesday, describing Atiku Abubakar as the “president the country is missing because of his experience and capacity.”
While answering a question on the possibility of his principal to re-contest for the post of Nigerian Presidency despite his previous failed attempts, Bwala said, “Sure, he would run. He has the capacity, he has the wisdom, he has the knowledge, he has the energy. And he is a president we never had.
To be honest with you, if any politician understands the private sector very well, it is Atiku Abubakar and our economy can only come alive if there is a private sector-led economy.”
Atiku Abubakar has contested unsuccessfully for President of Nigeria six times, in 1993, 2007, 2011, 2015, 2019, and 2023.
His ambition in the last general elections caused a lot of uproar and division in the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party.
This was what led to the creation of a ‘rebellious’ group tagged as G-5 which consisted: Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde (Oyo) and Nyesom Wike (Rivers).
It was also reported how Bode George, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ascribed the loss of the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in the February 25, 2023, presidential election to the withdrawal of support by the PDP’s aggrieved governors under the umbrella of G-5 governors and other members of the party under Integrity Group.
George had said that Atiku lost the election because the PDP managers felt the Southern region of the country does not matter and having denied the Southern part of the country presidential ticket and other key positions in the party, they decided to withdraw their support.
