Hon. Alabi Ahmed Ade, Special Adviser to the Kogi State Governor on Steel Development, has urged Kogi indigenes at home and abroad to participate in the Federal Government’s upcoming technical training for artisans in the metals sector, citing its potential to create jobs for numerous unemployed youth.
The Special Adviser made this statement after the Federal Ministry announced its commitment to a one-month boot-camp training program, aimed at equipping both existing and aspiring artisans in the metals industry with technical skills and support.
The Special Adviser stated that the programme aims to empower selected youths with advanced expertise in three specialized areas, as detailed in the attached form.
The Special Adviser noted that participants who complete the training will receive equipment support to help grow or expand their businesses, resulting in job opportunities and sustainable livelihoods.
Ahmed Alabi expressed gratitude to the state and federal governments for fostering a peaceful and functional environment for Nigerians in Kogi State.
Below is the Statement from the Federal Ministry of Steel Development
EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR TECHNICAL TRAINING OF ARTISANS IN THE METALS SECTOR
The Ministry of Steel Development is tasked with regulating and advancing the steel and other metals sector through policies and initiatives.
The Ministry is launching a one-month boot-camp training program designed to provide technical skills and support to both existing and aspiring artisans within the metals industry.
This programme aims to empower selected youths with
advanced expertise in three specialized areas as detailed in the accompanying form.
Additionally, participants who successfully complete the training will receive equipment support to help them grow or expand their businesses, thereby creating job opportunities and sustainable livelihoods.
The three training categories and their respective eligibility criteria are as follows
Welding and Fabrication:
Must be a Nigerian and provide valid means of identification
Must be between 18 and 40 years old
May/may not have basic knowledge of welding.
Must have at least a secondary school O’ Level certificate
Must be able to understand and communicate in English Language
Must submit a statement of purpose giving reasons why he/she should be selected for the programme
Industrial Foundry and Metallurgy:
Must be a Nigerian and provide valid means of identification
Must be between 18 and 40 years old.
May/may not have basic knowledge of foundry techniques.
Must be able to understand and communicate in English Language
Must submit a statement of purpose giving reasons why he/she should be selected for the programme
Instrumentation & control System and
Mechanical Maintenance
Should be a graduate of Electrical and Electronics or Mechanical Engineering
Must be a Nigerian an d provide valid means of identification
Must be between 18 and 40 years.
Must be able to understand and communicate in English Language
Must submit a statement of purpose giving reasons why he/she should be selected for the programme
